Hide and Eat ("the Game") is developed and operated by Paradigm Shift Apps, based in Singapore. This policy covers the Game specifically.
The short version: we don't ask you for anything, there are no accounts, and we never see your scores. The Game is free because it shows advertisements, and our advertising provider — Google — does collect information about your device. That is what most of this policy is about.
1. Information the Game collects itself
Nothing that identifies you. The Game has no accounts, no sign-in and no way for us to contact you. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.
Your best score and your progress are saved on your own device. That information never leaves the device, is never sent to us, and is deleted when you uninstall the Game.
2. Advertising
The Game is free and is paid for by advertising. We use Google AdMob to show banner advertisements on the title screen and on the game-over screen. Advertisements are never shown while you are playing.
To serve and measure those advertisements, Google collects and processes information from your device. This typically includes:
- your device's advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, the IDFA on iOS
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version and app version
- information about how you interact with advertisements, such as views and clicks
Google uses this to select advertisements, measure their performance, limit how often the same advertisement is shown to you, and detect fraud. We receive reporting on how many advertisements were shown and what they earned, including revenue figures for individual advertisement impressions, linked to a pseudonymous identifier that Google assigns to your installation of the Game. We never receive your name, your email address, or anything else that identifies you personally.
Google's own explanation of how it uses data from apps that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. Your choices about advertising
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the Game asks for your consent before showing personalised advertisements, using Google's certified consent management platform. You can accept, refuse, or choose in detail. If you refuse you will still see advertisements — they will simply be non-personalised. You can change your answer at any time from the privacy options in the Game.
If you are in California or another US state with similar laws, the Game provides a privacy options screen through which you can exercise the opt-out choices available to you.
If you are on iOS, Apple asks separately for your permission before the Game can use your device's advertising identifier for tracking. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On any device, you can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings, which prevents it being linked to earlier activity:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the Game is played — for example how many people finish a round, and at which point they stop. The advertising revenue information described above is sent to the same analytics system, so that we can see how the Game’s advertising performs alongside how the Game is played. None of this identifies you. It is linked only to a pseudonymous identifier for your installation of the Game, and it is used to make the Game better. Where your consent is required for analytics, it is requested in the same consent screen described above.
5. Children
The Game is not directed at children. It is intended for players aged 13 and over, and it is not listed in any children's category on the app stores. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at the address below and we will act on it.
6. Where information goes
Google processes information on servers in a number of countries, including the United States. Where information is transferred out of the UK or the European Economic Area, Google states that it relies on approved transfer mechanisms. Details are in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
7. How long information is kept
We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to keep. Data held by Google in connection with advertising is retained according to Google's own retention periods, described in the policy linked above. Your scores stay on your device until you delete the Game.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no personal information about you ourselves, most requests of this kind are directed to Google, and Google's privacy policy explains how to make them.
You can also stop all collection connected with the Game by uninstalling it.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the Game's store listing.
